What happens before the camera rolls

On a good shoot day, nothing dramatic happens. That is the point. The calm on set is built in pre-production, and it is where we spend more time than most clients expect.

The concept and the script

We settle the idea first: what the video says, who it is for, and how long it runs. Then it goes on paper as a script, an outline or a shot list, depending on the project.

The shot list

Every shot is written down with its purpose. If a shot does not help the story or the goal, it does not make the list. It also means the edit starts with material that was planned to cut together.

Locations, people and gear

We scout the space, check the light at the time of day we will shoot, and plan power, sound and access. We confirm who is on camera, who is behind it, and what each person needs.

The schedule

A call sheet gives everyone the same plan: when to arrive, what happens in what order, and who to call. Short days with a clear order beat long days with a loose one.

By the time we roll, the decisions are made. The day on set is for capturing them well.
